The hands and heart behind it all.

Annine van der Merwe’s passion for Occupational Therapy began in high school, where she had the opportunity to shadow her cousin, an experienced Hand Therapist, in Paarl.

This early exposure sparked a deep interest in the field, and in 2009, she embarked on her formal journey, pursuing a Bachelor’s degree at the University of Pretoria. She completed her studies in 2012, the same year she met her husband, Pieter.

In 2013, Annine was placed in the bustling Hands Unit at Charlotte Maxeke Hospital in Johannesburg for her community service year.

It was here that her love for hand therapy truly ignited. Eager to deepen her expertise, she earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Hand Therapy with Cum Laude from the University of Pretoria in 2015.

By 2017, she had the privilege of teaching hand therapy splinting to undergraduate students at her alma mater.

Throughout her career, Annine has completed numerous professional development courses in vocational rehabilitation and hand therapy, continually honing her skills.

She spent eight enriching years working at a prestigious hand therapy practice in Pretoria before managing a practice in Benoni for two years. Now, her journey continues as she brings her passion and dedication to Middelburg, ready to further advance her career in this rewarding profession.

At home, Annine is the proud mother of two active boys. She enjoys spending time outdoors, baking, hosting gatherings, and unwinding with a good story.
